A bizarre and deeply disturbing incident was reported on board Air India flight AI2336 from Delhi to Bangkok on April 9, 2025. An Indian passenger allegedly urinated on a fellow passenger mid-flight, leading to immediate intervention by the cabin crew.
Air India confirmed the incident in an official statement released later in the day. According to the airline, the cabin crew acted promptly after being informed of the unruly behaviour. The accused passenger was reportedly warned, while the victim, identified as an employee of a reputed multinational company, was offered support.
"The crew followed all laid down procedures, and the matter has been reported to the authorities," the airline’s statement read. It further clarified that the aggrieved passenger was encouraged to file a complaint with Bangkok authorities upon landing but declined to do so at the time.
The airline also stated that the incident would be reviewed by an Independent Committee. This body, as per DGCA guidelines, is responsible for determining the appropriate disciplinary action in cases involving unruly behaviour on board.
This is not the first time Air India has found itself at the centre of in-flight misconduct. The airline emphasized its commitment to upholding strict standards of passenger conduct and confirmed it is cooperating with authorities for any further inquiry.
Incidents like this have previously sparked conversations around stricter enforcement of no-fly lists and tighter regulation of passenger behaviour. While the accused’s identity has not been officially disclosed, the outcome of the committee’s investigation could lead to serious consequences, including a flying ban.
